Necrotic lesions develop on stem of well grown plants near the soil level. Whitish fungal mycelium grows on these necrotic areas under high humidity and the branches, leaves, inflorescence etc become soft and start rotting. The diseased stem, breaks.
Treating the seed with Thiram at the rate of 2 g/kg seed before sowing is quite effective to control the disease.
